In Tune Birthing - Testimonials

I am currently pregnant with our first child, and my husband and I wanted to create something to commemorate the experience, as well as have something special that our child can also hold on to. I came upon the Sound Agency’s website and saw that Laura creates customized lullabies, and I knew this would be perfect for our family.

As much as I knew I wanted this lullaby for my baby, and I don’t have any experience with song writing, so having Laura guide my husband and I through the writing process was invaluable. She asked us questions about our baby, what emotions and sentiments we wanted to express, and gave us tips on what we might want to include, which really helped open us up to the process and got the creative juices flowing.

Laura has a beautiful singing voice and a natural talent for songwriting and production. She went through our lullaby as many times as necessary to make sure it was perfect and exactly what we wanted.

The entire experience went above and beyond our expectations. We are so excited to share this gift that Laura helped us to create with our baby! We’ve since memorized the lyrics to our lullaby, and will sing it to our baby every day. Establishing a legacy is important to us, and now, even before baby arrives, we have a beautiful, recorded oral history of the love we want to pass down.

In Tune Birthing and Laura changed our lives.. Early on in pregnancy, I was nothing but terrified of the birthing process. If anyone would try and talk to me about it, I would run the other way, but that all changed once we started classes with Laura. I have to admit I was a skeptic of these classes at first, but I’m so glad Laura proved me wrong. She used doula techniques and music therapy to help me and my husband change our perspective on the birthing process and help us realize that we were capable of successfully getting through the birthing experience. Our classes helped us grow a bond with our son that was missing. Laura helped us write a lullaby for him that we still sing to him this day. In the hospital, her presence was absolutely crucial. I was a bit apprehensive about having someone else there besides my husband, but we couldn’t have done it without Laura there. She used music to help me through my contractions. She was my advocate against nurses and doctors who tried to push things on me. She was someone my husband also leaned on and he swears he would have been a mess without her there to support both of us. We love Laura and all that we’ve learned from her during the birthing process and after. Thank you.

I highly recommend Laura Pruett as a doula. She has a lot knowledge and interest in this field and is also very compassionate, sweet, and assertive person. She helped me prepare for birth by doing yoga and exercises with me. She also recommended several very helpful birthing books and we had great discussions about them. Laura sacrificed a great deal to be at my birth, she had moved just prior to my birth and drove 5 hours to be sure to be back on time for my labor. During my labor she was very supportive. She helped me vocalize my pain during my contractions. She was very aware of what I was going through, and very attentive to my needs. She helped me breathe through each contraction. She also helped my husband to help me, together we were a great team. Laura played music that helped me feel calm and focused, so also helped visualize what I needed to, to have my labor progress. There was point that the midwife did something I didn’t like while I was pushing and I couldn’t communicate that I wanted her to stop, but Laura knew what I needed and took care of the problem. She was great during my labor and delivery and has even continued to help me even after the birth. I have a very colicky baby and 2 other children, she has helped me deal with my emotions so that I can remain positive. Laura is a great choice for a doula, especially because she is trained as a music therapist as well, and so she can help you in so many ways.

Laura Pruett was so helpful to me. She called and talked to me every week and if I needed her at 3 am she was there. This was my first pregnancy and I was so scared being 17 and going into labor. Laura was a big supporter in my journey to being a mom. She was there when I needed her. If I had questions she didn’t know the answers to, she found the answers or referred me to someone who did know the answers. She encouraged me to listen to music while I was pregnant and I made that part of my daily routine, along with singing and reading to my unborn baby. She felt more like a trusted friend than anything else.

When I went into labor, I was pretty scared and I called Laura. She helped me calm myself down and was at the hospital with me through the whole thing. She played music while I tried to stand the pain and it was easier to tolerate. The music we used was very soothing and I think it really did help me relax. When I was “pushing” to give birth to my baby, she changed the music to powerful that I really think helped me concentrate on pushing and less on being scared.

I would recommend Laura for anyone who needed a doula, especially for a young woman going through her first delivery. This is certainly Laura’s calling and my experience with my pregnancy and childbirth was definitely made easier because of her.

I was so happy that a friend gave us Laura’s number! She was so supportive during pregnancy, labor, and even after the baby was born. Laura met with us twice before the baby was born. It was very helpful to talk about a birth plan and what to expect before I went into labor. I had a lot of anxiety and it was helpful to talk about what I wanted and didn’t want. At the second meeting she went over exercises and the playlists of music to listen to. She would also text me once or twice a week to see how I was doing. During labor Laura was very supportive. I am glad that she was there. The music made it very peaceful and calming in the room. The nurses even commented on how peaceful it was. After the baby was born she came to see us once we got home. She even texted me after that. I could tell that Laura truly cares about what she does!
